Ysabel

Author : Guy Gavriel Kay

Genre : Fiction

Provence, France, with its Celtic and Roman histories is fertile ground for Kay’s story that crosses centuries to land its reoccurring conflict—two men in love with the same woman—in the twenty-first century.

Ned Marriner, a 15-year-old, is in France with his father, a renowned photographer shooting the Saint-Sauveur Cathedral in Aix-en-Provence. While exploring the cathedral, Ned meets Kate, an American exchange student from New York. They are at a loss when they surprise a scar-faced stranger carrying a knife. “I think you ought to go now,” he tells them. “You have blundered into a corner of a very old story.”
