It’s the story of Kate, who lives in San Francisco and her best friend Heather from college who is married to her cousin, Nico. Nico and Heather care for the family vineyard of generations in faraway Burgundy, France. While visiting during the grape harvest, Kate and Heather discover the identify of Helene, a great aunt who was a teenager during the French Resistance of World War II that no one even knew existed. Sprinkled with French, this book chronicles the story of cleaning the cellar interspersed with journal entries from Helene, 1939-1944.
