This creatively-written mystery about a enchanted house takes place in London and Liverpool, England in 1818, 1833 and 1837, and later in 1846 on Blaugdone Island, Rhode Island. Merritt Fernsby, an author who is working on his second novel, is surprised when he inherits a remote estate in the Narragansett Bay. The property hasn’t been inhabited for more than 100 years.

Whimbrel House is enchanted. Hulda Larkin of the Boston Institute for the Keeping of Enchanted Rooms (BIKER) has been trained in taming such structures in order to preserve their historical and magical significance. Since the home is given to tantrums, she encourages Merritt to make the house their ally. To do that, she’ll need to move in, too. They work together to find the Source of the enchantment, all the while a sinister character from Hulda’s past, Silas Hogwood, is plotting his revenge on her and the house.
